A global common sense found in all cultures: the Finnish sauna, the Roman thermaes, the Russian banai, the Swedish bastu, the Turkish hammam, the Ayurveda sweat bath and the Native American sweat lodge (to name a few) all provide a primordial purifying function. The sauna house (with a little separation from the main house) can offer a neutrality and clear space, ideal for a mini retreat. The sauna house architecture is indeed an invitation to be closer with natural elements, to recall and to renew.
